I’b totally sick today. By nose is all stuffed ub, and yet it’s running like a faucet. Gross. It’s so stuffy that I can only breath through by bouth, so by borning iced coffee was a real treat. I was afraid that while I was drinking through the straw I would create a vacuum and imblode, bossibly sucking by head right into the straw! Lucky for be and cars near be, this was not the case. But I did try to swallow with by bouth oben, just id case.

~~haa-chooo~~

****sssnnnsnnnnnnngggghghghhhhhhhh*****

Excuse be.

But I refuse to be sick for Rhinebeck. Even if I am, I’b still going. Hobefully Kellee and Belanie won’t mind all by sniffling. Ban, this sucks! I feel like I’ve got a whole cat stuffed in by sinuses! I was hoping by allergy medicine would helb, but it hasn’t. At least there’s Nyquil sweet nectar of the sick. And Buffs Blus tissues! Those are the best. Jon has this cold, too, so we ran out of Buffs Blus and have resorted to toilet baber. It’s not a bretty scene at Chez Yarnbants.

I think I’b gonna need a thicker sweater for this weekend. Babybe I’ll make one of these babies. I still have time! At least you’d be able to find be. Just follow the bointing and laughing.

I could stuff the sleeves with all the yarn I buy! (is it just be, or does this look just like Heather Graham?)

I could totally half-ass the sleeves AND hood and end ub looking like a frightened turtle wearing beach-colored wrist gauntlets.

Or I could just boke a hole in an afghan and call it a freaking day.

    Three words:

    Egg Drop Soup.

Nothing better for a cold than egg drop soup, don’t ask me why, it’s got something to do with the eggs. Run, do not walk, to your nearest Chinese takeout and get enough for you and your honey. You’ll both feel better in time for Rhinebeck.

    Good luck!

Hooter’s wings -or- sushi and wasabi!! When the DBF is sick or has allergies, this always works (at least for about 8 hours).

I’m a fan of African Red Bush Tea. I think the stuff tastes like cigarette water, but man o’ man, I will drink it and I will feel better within a couple hours. And during cold season people come to me like it’s a drug. It’s good stuff is what I am saying.

If you have a health food store near you, go get some Emergen-C packets. It has minerals and vitamins that help with colds. If you don’t have any stores near you, let me know and I can always send you some. It is my wonder cure. I hope you feel better!

  6. Deb says:

I hope you feel better, too! I hope to meet you at Rhinebeck and it would be a shame for that cold to keep you away! Do feel better! (And, that one sweater? Pretty bad, but really, she had pretty marvelous hair. Kind of big, but really pretty. You know, to distract people from the sweater.)

You need a neti pot. Seriously, these suckers do AMAZING Things with a stuffy nose. Clears everything out and feels soooooo good while you’re doing it. If you read miz Norma, she recommends them, too. Here’s where I got mine on the cheap: http://www.healthandyoga.com/html/product/neti.html

  8. god, after seeing that boncho, i ting i feel sick too. sniff

  9. Leisel says:

The model certainly doesn’t look pleased about having to wear that poncho.

  10. Biglug says:

I hear that wearing an afghan as a piece of clothing will scare a cold right out of you!

  11. Belanie says:

You best be feeling better soon, lady – cuz I don’t know if my knocked up compromised immune system can take germs + 2 days in the cold wet weather.

    I’m just sayin.

  12. Laurie says:

This whole post had me on the floor. I sympathize…mine just went away after 3 weeks..3..count ’em..3.

That afghan poncho is just the best.

  13. Kellee says:

I’m so NOT going to Rhinebeck with you UNLESS you wear that poncho.

    P.S. Emergen-C is the bomb.

I recommend Cold Season tea by YogiTeas or Gypsy Cold Tea by…um…some Gypsy tea company.

And leave the sweater at home. It’s set to be almost 70 degrees F at Rhinebeck this weekend.

For some reason, even though I check your blog every day, I visited today and found all these posts from, like, the past several days. WTF? Anyway, I’m glad your’re back and posting, even though you’re feeling sick. When my bf is sick, he always requests what he got when he was growing up in India: a homemade infusion of fresh ginger root (finely minced), with a dash of lemon juice. Honey optional. Opens those nasal passages right up. :) See you at Rhinebeck!

  16. Knittykim says:

well, if you choose the afghan with a hole in it, when you get tired you can just lie down at Rhinebeck and take a quick snooze

Augh!! Photo #1 looks like a knitted Elizabethan doublet. If it weren’t so ugly, I might make one just because I can.

Help. Please keep me from doing that.

  18. Kim says:

Aw! I hope you feel better soon. I’m finally done with my cold. Towards the end I was mainlining Nyquil and smoking Halls Cough Drops. Being sick is no joke!

  19. Kristy says:

Surely this terrible cold hasn’t killed you! Hope you are feeling better.

  20. Spark says:

  21. PuppyMomma says:

I’b totally with you sister! And I lub my Buffs Blus too.

  22. Ok Im a nurse and although I love natural cures, my own snotty nose was making it impossible to knit and not leave stiff little gifts all over whatever I was working on at the time. Get some Affrin nasal spray and use it. Or a generic if you must ( I had to It was the end of the paycheck) as you squirt, tilt your head to that side (ie if squirting in the left nare then tilt left so it gets in those darling eustation tubes, boy did i mispell that!) Its amazing and no more snot. THEN eat your chicken soup.

  23. Andrea says:

    Nyquil
    The nighttime, sniffling,
    sneezing, coughing, aching,
    stuffy head, fever,
pass out until you feel better medicine.
