HOW many days until the Bazaar Bizarre? And I have how much stuff left to make?! And I’m on the tee-vee doing what now?

Holy stromboli, people. What have I done?

I know, I know. You were all convinced that I’d finally taken refuge in a deep, dark cave somewhere in a remote jungle. Well, I was considering it, but really €“ the bugs. I can’t be living with bugs bigger than my head. So instead, I’m giving civilization one more chance by over-committing myself to kingdom come.

The good news? I knit on a sock for about 15 minutes last week while getting an oil change! Whee! And that’s pretty much all the knitting I’ve been able to do in maybe two months.

Oddly, you can now see me on TV knitting, so that’s gotta count for something, right? The holiday episode of Knitty Gritty I filmed last December is finally airing! Yikes! The episode is titled “Kitschy Christmas” and is airing a bunch of times between now and Christmas. Click here for the times and dates. See? A ton of times. People are going to be really sick of me by the time it’s over. They’ll be stuffing turkeys with my book, I just know it. On the plus side, I’m now a bargain book on Amazon, so you can stuff a lot of turkeys for a minimal investment!

I don’t have the DIY channel and for once, I couldn’t be happier about that. The very idea of watching the episode gives me flop sweat. Seriously. Although I would like to see how my fabulous fake nails looked. Sometimes I miss them.

So. Has anyone seen it? How was it? Please lie and just say “Fine. It was fine and you didn’t look like a ginormous Robin’s egg in that horrid blue sweater that you wore because everything else you brought sucked and you went to Target while you were waiting for it to be your turn to shoot and that’s the best you could do in 10 minutes in Burbank.”

Please? I really want it to be good. I got a couple of good jokes in and I really did love the turtleneck tissue cozy I made. I ended up giving my samples away to a couple of the producers because they were such sweethearts. I intend to make myself another one.

I bet Marnie, my co-guest in kitsch, was as adorable as ever. Her knit granny squares were a stroke of brilliance. The bag is really festive and quite pretty. When the folks at Knitty Gritty asked me to come up with some good kitchy stuff to make, I kept coming up with things that was crocheted. A definite no-no on a show with “Knit” in the title (although I see nothing wrong with crafty cross-pollination) so we decided to try to replicate granny squares with knitting. My tissue cozy has a charted granny square motif, and Marnie came up with a way to knit them. Clever girl.

One thing I’m excited about is that I got to show off Maryse’s Fun Fur Chistmas Tree on this episode!

How cute is that? It’s truly a good use of Fun Fur and is just as cool in person as it is in this photo. It knits up in a jiffy, too. Maryse has written up the pattern and made it available on her site. Click the photo to be whisked off to a Fun Fur Wonderland.

I’ll fill you in on the Bazaar Bizarre happenings a little later. I don’t want to use up all my blog fodder in one go. :)

I watched the episode last night and it was great! The tissue cozy was cute and I understood the very clear directions you gave. Good job all in all. I did not notice your clothing but you have a nice dimple.

I think Tivo is getting that episode for me, today. If so, I’ll let you know how dorktastic we were. And hey, the sound guy did a good job pinning you into the blue sweater and it didn’t have the plastic heart buttons you hated on the dark blue puffy sleeved top, so it’s all good.

I LOVE the little tree! It’s absolutely adoreable(and a great use of fun-fur) I saw the episode, and it was great. Fantastily kitschy, and you didn’t act like a moron and you didn’t look like a hobo. I give it 2 thumbs up!

I just got home from Thanksgiving weekend last night and watched my Tivo’d episode of Knitty Gritty. I loved the tissue cozy and am planning to make one though not for this holiday season. (too much holiday knitting to do still yet) You and Marnie were both just kitsch enough without going over the deep end!

I loved your turtleneck cozy and want to make some but cannot find the pattern anywhere on DIY or HGTV. Do you know where I can find it? Thanks so much!
