Welp, I’ve been slapped with a meme. Thanks, Ms. Melanie. What’s a girl to do? Answer, I guess.

1. Total amount of music files on your computer?

A lot. Gigs and Gigs of it. I recently transferred most of my CDs, so I have a large library of music on my computer.

2. The last CD you bought was:

A bunch of Christmas CDs from the grocery store, including: James Brown, Dean Martin, The Brady Bunch, Dolly Parton, and Cyndi Lauper.

3. What is the song you last listened to before reading this message?

A stirring medley of Cream’s greatest hits performed by Howard, Artie, and Fred on the Howard Stern show this morning (I know, I know, but sometimes it’s funny. The Cream thing was great.)

4. Write down 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you:

Wow. This is hard. I go through phases and have tons of favorite songs. I’m going to throw some extras in. These are in no particular order and if I made this list tomorrow, it would probably be different.

-Hallelujah – Jeff Buckley. Achingly beautiful.
-I Am Not a Pretty Girl Ani DeFranco. Go on, sistergirl!
-This Will Be (an Everlasting Love) Natalie Cole. Pure joy in a handy 3-minute package.
-Red Right Hand Nick Cave. I love the classic spooky vibe in this one.
-Every Little Thing Raul Malo. This song is smokin’ hot.
-Rock and Roll Suicide David Bowie (or Ziggy Stardust, I suppose). Glam rock drama at its finest.
-Jockey Full of Bourbon Tom Waits. I always imagine this song being used at a ballroom dance competition. It’s kind of a slow rumba. (Tom Waits would always be on this list, but the song depends on the day)
-Let’s Go Crazy Prince. Freaking awesome song. I toyed with the idea of having our wedding vows start with the lyrics to the beginning of this song.

5. What 3 people are you going to pass this baton to and why?

Julia at Moth Heaven.
Miriam at Mimknits.
Melody at Fibermania.

All three of these ladies are really cool and I want to read their lists. Lay it on me, sisters.

ooooooooohhhhhh, Red Right Hand! That is SUCH a great song and I haven’t heard it in ages. I bought a soundtrack just for that song…but it was on cassette. Damn cassettes! Jockey Full of Bourbon is one of my all time Tom Waits favorite songs too. Kudos to you for being able to single out songs, whereas I took the CD/genre cop out.

up and posted my darling Stitchy. And thanks… I was beginning to feel a bit left out and unloved with the whole meme tag thing 😉

btw, are you still interested in doing the Wool Peddler Shawl? I can still scan in my adjusted graphs for you, if you want. Sorry I forgot about it before. I have the book in my bag (and have for like… a month) but I just keep forgetting or not having time.

My fiance LOVES Jeff Buckley. And that’s my favorite Ani song too. What were all those xmas CDs for? And Cyndi Lauper has a Christmas album?!? That might be the one Christmas album I ever buy in my life (aside from the Clay Aiken one I bought for my mom this past xmas as a joke).

  4. This reminds me….I have to pull out the CD mix you made and bring it to work!

  5. Elisa says:

Jeff Buckley’s version of “Hallelujah” is gorgeous, I agree. I love the rest of your list of songs, too. I think “Into My Arms” by Nick Cave is probably my favorite, though. I mean, who doesn’t love a love song that includes lyrics like “I don’t believe in an interventionist God”?

  6. Nik says:

that stockinette fabric in your cats poo is simply hilarious! I keep thinking that my dog will chew up something of mine and I’d find something like that in his poo.

It would be better than the tapeworm bits I found the other day.

    see ya!

  7. Knittykim says:

Whoa. Red Right Hand. I have never, ever heard anyone mention that song with the exception of 2 XFiles geeks (not meant as a put down). Didn’t know it was widely known.

  8. Dude! Red Right Hand is a classic! I love me some Nick Cave. Mmm, want to go listen to it right now…if I could find the right CD. That’s very iffy…
Anyway, I saw your link on FLUFFA!, and couldn’t resist hitting something called “Museum of Kitschy Stitches”. Oh dear god, I just spent about 15 minutes laughing over the phone to my best friend, who wasn’t sitting at her computer, trying to explain to her how absolutely horrid the crap I was looking at was! Thank you SO much for that! I’m now going to torture everyone I know with you and your amazing ass-knitting cat!

That’s really thinking at an imeivssrpe level

    • Hi fransener have just purchased a Canon 7D most of the eBay sellers say that the YN-468 is not suitable for this camera. my main use for a flash would be for background fill with the flash detached and to the side apart from the regular on the hot-shoe shots one would make which model ‘YN-**’ would you recommend,Rusty.

    • I do like the way you have presented this concern and it really does offer me a lot of fodder for thought. On the other hand, because of what I have seen, I just hope as other remarks pack on that people today stay on point and don’t start on a tirade regarding the news of the day. Anyway, thank you for this fantastic point and though I can not necessarily concur with the idea in totality, I respect the standpoint.

This has nothing to do with your recent post & I don’t want to be a dangerous knitting obsession feeder but….I saw this on Ebay and thought it belonged in your Museum. It is without a doubt the single most insane collection of headgear ever assembled. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=41239&item=8168791202&rd=1
I swear this is not my listing & I’m not trying to sell you something! Come to think of it – this is either your listing or someone has robbed the Museum. :)

This inortmafion is off the hizool!

  16. Thanks Kelly, but I'm flummoxed as to why a certification mark of this nature should be the subject of a monopoly. What public policy is served by this? And what would happen if another organisation came along with higher standards: would it be forced to use a different certification line?
