Now I’m afraid to answer the door. What if it comes for me? But it might be worth getting squashed between a speeding 18-wheeler crane thing and a fire truck just to hear the words “Stitchy McYarnpants?” in an Austrian accent. Maybe it’ll all work out ok and the Snarkinator will give me a thumbs up as I slowly lower it into a steaming crock pot full of yarn that I’m dying. We’ll see. But in the meantime, why not add a butterfly bow tie? The bow is wide, too – d’oh!
In 1972 I was in 6th grade. At my school, we had a costume contest. The categories included most colorful, most creative…and fringiest. Yes, fringiest. I miss those fringy days!
At least we know now what all the casual Indians will be wearing this fall!
My mum had one of those fringey vests.

I couldn’t bring myself to wear that vest when I was a teen in the 70’s.
That bowtie is the “in-nest” thing I’ve ever seen. Every man I’ve ever known… hell, every man I can find is getting one of these!
I too made that vest in light brown suede–still have it somewhere. I think I wore it once or twice, probably with the engineer stripe hip hugger bell bottoms that rode so low the zipper was only 2.5 inches long. Maybe all that fringe was a good thing!

Okay, I would never, never make a fringed vest unless it was of the holiest of holy- the cow, er, I mean suede, of course, like the cowboys wore, how crude to replicate it in any kind of yarn, yet, I am falling in love with Berroco Suede, and some of those flakey yarns!@#$%? Like the diva yarns which are made of cheap little strips of interfacing dyed in fabulous colors and attached to “real” yarn….please quote me on this one….yeah, I’m an still a flower child, mostly love, savorying what little peace there really is?

OMG, I actually made two of these vests for my boys when they were kids. Made them out of some awful fake leather and I remember laboriously stringing turquoise plastic pony beads on every single strand of fringe. AAAAARGH!
